Welcome to STUDENTS FOR GLOBAL HEALTH @ The University of Washington

About Us:

Students for Global Health is a public health RSO that fosters interest and literacy in public health issues among members. We encourage engaged membership by volunteering at local community organizations and by nurturing a partnership with our sister organization, Manava Adhikar Seva Samiti (MASS). We stand united in the belief that health is a human right and envision a world in which health is possible for all people regardless of where they call home.

Mission:

Strengthen the movement for global health equity by empowering students to collaboratively improve the health of people around the world.

How SGH makes an impact:

Fundraising

1

We raise funds for our global partner, MASS Odisha, throughout the year via various virtual and in-person fundraisers as well as our annual benefit dinner & silent auction, BenDin.

Volunteering

2

Through SGH's Local Partnerships division, club members volunteer with a variety of community organizations that support health & equity in the Seattle area, including Teen Feed, UW Gardens,  and more.

Awareness

3

SGH works to raise awareness for a variety of global health-related issues and  challenges, both with public-facing fundraising and member activities such as creating health/wellness infographics and more.

[about info]

Our Partner:

SGH raises funds for MASS ("Manava Adhikar Seva Samiti" -- "Human Rights Service Committee") Odisha. They are a non-governmental, non-profit, apolitical, secular development organization initiated by a group of Sociology & Anthropology students from the Sambalpur University in Odisha, India. Feel free to learn more about them on their Facebook page here. University of Washington students in SGH have the opportunity to work and communicate directly with MASS to support their mission.
